Brief Introduction

Featuring a quad-core processor, hardware encryption engine, and flawless software integration, DS1515+ is a powerful, expandable 5-bay NAS server that delivers outstanding speed and accelerated data encryption. Easily scalable, the DS1515+ can be equipped with up to 6GB of DDR3 RAM and host up to 90TB of raw capacity with two Synology DX513 units.

The hardware configuration of our Synology DiskStation DS1515+ consisted of the following configurations:

NAS DSM: DSM 5.1-5004 Update 2
RAID: SHR (with 2 Disk Failure [RAID 6])
HDD: 4 x 3TB (Toshiba - DT01ACA300) + 1 x 3TB (WD RED - WD30EFRX-68EUZN0)
GbE: 1 x port
Router: ASUS RT N-56U
Cable: CAT 6

Conclusion:
The DS1515+ its easy to set up, use. Faster than its predecessors.

Pros:
Ability to insert hard drives without using any screws (only applicable for 3.5" Disks)
Ability to expand from 1 Disk to 2, or more with a simple disk expansion.
Extremely easy configuration
Strong application and firmware support from Synology
Strong GbE performance
Link Aggregation / Failover ability
SFTP out of the box ready

Cons:
Lack of HDMI/VGA connectivity output for direct video output from the NAS
Slow technical support from Synology for Singapore Region when issue arises. Expect to wait up to 5 days for responses.
Single Phase power available with no redundancies
